Hard starting

Hard starting is a long crank before the engine fires, or a start that needs several tries.

Crankshaft (P0335) and camshaft (P0340) signal faults remove the timing reference the ECU needs to fire and inject. A fuel-pump circuit code such as P0230 points at delivery rather than spark.

Note whether it is worse when cold. Read the code before replacing the pump or the sensors.

A trouble code marks a condition to test. It does not by itself prove which part to replace.
